Almost done Cookin'

Hey yall! I have had quite a busy couple of weeks. Been getting ready for DanniLyn to make her arrival, which if you didn't know is going to be March 22nd at roughly 8am! I am so excited but these last couple of days feel like they are most definitely dragging out. It actually kinda sucks. I really wanted to get as much accomplished before DanniLyn got here for the girls spring/Summer clothes, I have gotten a lot made but not as much as I wanted. With this pregnancy being High Risk & me having to take it easy I couldn't quite get done what I wanted, but it is okay, I am sure it wont be hard to get stuff done after we all get into a routine when she makes her debut. I finally got my serger fixed. I am so excited about that! I finally get to have the professional finish on my garments! I couldn't be more happier! Let me tell you what threading a serger is NO JOKE! It is hard & confusing! It took me for EVER to get it done properly! I learned how to take T shirts and turn them into dresses for my girls, which is so far pretty much one of my favorite things to make because T Shirt material is so soft & stretchy, plus it is light weight so its prefect for those hot summer days! I scored some great Tees from Goodwill last weekend! I was so happy about that. Spent about $30 and got a zillion tees that were in good shape! I need to hit up other thrift stores in the area & find some more. Anyways Here are some photos of what I have been up to. I must tell you my sketch book is filling up pretty fast & I love how it feels to see my sketches come to life. I just love it & my girls seem to, too!

Biggest Slacker award goes to...

ME!! That's right! I have been slacking since like January to update this blog! Instead I have been just adding photos to my facebook. Sometimes between the girls going crazy or growing this little booger in my belly (who keeps giving us a run for our money) it just gets hard. So this post is definitely going to be filled with a ton of photos. Some of the stuff I have been making hasn't even gotten photographed yet, but that's okay, eventually, one day everything will be documented... haha Yea right! Who am I kidding?!

This is a Cloth Diaper I made for Bella which her chucky butt has already grown out of! Gotta be those thunder thighs! it is one of my favorite prints, the Mermaid flannel has gotten used so many times, I am almost out of it! Going to call for a trip to the fabric store just to go get some more!

The next is a car seat cover. I absolutely LOVE it, I am one of "those Moms" who hates to have any kind of sun or wind blowing in my babies face! So I thought it would be great to have a blanket that attached to the car seat (by velcro or ribbon) so that it doesn't blow away, So this is what I came upwith! I also made the edges rounded so that it didn't touch the ground or get messy from those gross shopping carts while we're grocery shopping! Last big plus about this is that it will keep all the unwanted eyes & germs away from DanniLyn when she arrives! :) I also made a set for a friend at my husbands work who are expecting their first boy, I love the little base ball fabric! It is also reversible!! (Seen on the right) I also have a photo of the matching Tie Onesie & head support I made to match the baseball car seat cover. It was my first attempt at appliqueing and making something stuffed with cotton lol. I think it came out pretty good for my first time but maybe that's just because I am biased?

So Miss Kadience, my oldest daughter has been my guinea pig. She has been modeling all of the clothing but she doesn't mind she called them Princess "photo shoots" Most of the clothing that i have made for the girls can be worn my both of them because Bella & Kadience are the same size only Kadience is a little taller, So essentially it saves on how much I sew, So you will probably see these outfits on both of the girls as it warms up! I have been able to get most of my sewing down while Bella is asleep too. Kadience has her own little sewing kit and she likes to sit down beside me and "sew" clothing for her dolls. Its a good time for Her & I to share "big girl" time together. Eventually it will be a right of passage, I am going to teach all of our girls to sew! I am looking into getting Kadience a sewing machine, you know those tiny kid ones? She wants so bad to not hand stitch lol. With time my sweet child you will get one! Kadience loves to hand me the pins when i have to pin a garment together & she likes to cut the excess thread when I am done sewing. She says that its her job & if she doesn't do it she gets upset! Its adorable to see how interested she is to learn!

I have come up with names for each of my dresses lol that probably sounds a little crazy, but I had to. I sketch all of the "designs" and then I put them to work, I make all my own patterns and stuff. It makes me feel so accomplished I guess. I am pretty proud, every time we go out I have been getting compliments on how cute the girls outfits are! It really great to know that people notice, and since I put so much work into it, when I tell people that I made the outfit they are shocked because it is put together so well, you would have thought I went out and bought it! Right now I am going to start working on Moto clothing, Since my husband is a Marine I love seeing little kids with the digi style clothing mixed in. I think it is adorable!! I am collecting digi cammies right now, so if you have a donation or your hubby is getting out, or just has piles of cammies laying around let me know! I would love the opportunity to get some practice by making outfits for your little ones!

Baby Annoucement!

So this really isn't a sewing update because things have been super crazy & its only Wednesday. This week has seemed to be one of the ones where if it can go wrong it does & the days have been dragging on and on! We should be getting our taxes back by the 2nd or so it says on the IRS website. I am so excited to get them back so that we can get our SUV! I defiantly think that it is true that SAHM's get more excited about them than anyone else! I have to admit too that I also check "wheres my refund" once a day! LOL Today's post is mainly a update on me & baby #3, Miss DanniLyn. I am 31 weeks and 1 day today & yet I am measuring 32 weeks.. crazy huh? I still in some way think that they have my due dates wrong considering the ultrasound tech gave me 3 different due dates spanning over March & April. Oh well I guess, I know that she will get here when she gets here but I am anxious to meet her. The appointment went great.. and I have some terrific news!! On March 22nd at 7:30am DanniLyn will make her debut! I am so happy to finally have a date and be able to plan on when family will be coming into town and things! I have to arrive at the hospital at 5:30am, I am not really sure why I have to be there so freggin early but ah well. It's kinda crazy to think that she will be here so soon. Literally I only have 3 more doctors appointments and then shes here, it is going to go by so quick I know it. I really hope that she doesn't come any earlier. I really like the idea of being able to "plan" her arrival unlike her Big Sisters!
Well that's it for now, be sure to check back for updates, I have been slacking on the photos of my sewing! next week there will for sure be a TON of updates probably every day!!

Topsey turby week!

So I was going to try and sew for a year, 365 days & then by the end of the year I could see how much my sewing has expanded and grown, well all was going great at first with things like these:

Those are, Skirts for the girls, a taggie blanket for DanniLyn, a pattern that only came with instructions & a Notebook cover. I also made some diapers, inserts & pj pants for the girls. I had a great 7 day streak going on, then ever so unexpectedly my computer crashed :( Lost all of my photos & I had already deleted them from the camera, so I am going to have to take some more. Then later in the week, about 3 days ago my needle broke while going through some pretty thick fabric. My crazy butt had forgotten to change the needle to the correct one. It was the first needle I ever broke, it sucked. The needle breaking should have given me a clue to hello take a break! Well it wasn't. I kept on sewing. I finished a hem & then after i was all done realized I had sewed the entire hem without a threaded bobbin. Geeze, it was an off day. I figured I had enough thread to refill the bobbin and then redo the hem... thought wrong!! I didn't get to finish it, I got about 1/2 way done and ran out of thread. Pain in the butt let me tell ya. I hate starting something and not being able to finish it the same day or even within a timely manner. My hubby & I only have one car & every time he has gotten off of work & dinners done & our youngest is in bed, its too late for me to head out to the fabric store to go and get more thread. Honestly I dont even know where the fabric store in the area is, I guess that I should Google it LOL. We had bought all of the fabric & thread & everything I needed while we were back home visiting my Mom. I am going to go this weekend (crossing my fingers) until then I am just going to clean & play with the girls & then during the Girl's nap time when I usually sew I will just look up more awesome tutorials and such for me to add to my list of awesomeness!!

About me

Hey yall! My name is Kati I am 22 years old and I love to hang out with my family, my friends & learn new things. I made this blog as a way for me to share things that I will come to make & that I enjoy doing. I recently just got my first sewing machine & I am totally addicted. You will probably come to find out that more of the crafts that I will do will have something to do with sewing! I find it so fun & relaxing. I am usually able to get most of my sewing done during my daughter's nap time or bed time! I was born in Atlanta, GA and raised in a small town called Vine Grove, KY but currently call VA home. I am Down to earth & easy going for the most part, I am a big goof ball & really random. I tend to forget to think before I talk, its probably my biggest down fall. My life revolves around my family, I am huge on spending time with the ones that I love. If I could I would probably spend all day & night on the beach, I just wish we lived back on the water again, I find the waves crashing to the shore to be so relaxing! Laying out & reading a book with my daughters would probably be an ideal day! lol I also enjoy one of my favorite hobbies, Photography, Anything that has to do with photography, taking photos or using photo shop. I love to learn new things that has to do with it. I currently have my own Side business, Pure Bliss Photography, Check it out & if you are in the area NOVA/SE VA and interested in having your photos done just send me a message!

I am married to a wonderful man, We met as high school sweethearts in our government class through one of my best friends, Stephanie. We were like two peas in a pod, where you would find one, the other was near. We were married in a quiet "JP" wedding a year later in Sept 2005. He is a wonderful Father to our two daughters & a great Husband. He fills our days with excitement & joy. I think he is the biggest "kid" at heart! He could play with our daughters all day long i swear. They wear him out twice as much as he wears them out; Its nap time after hours of playing for him! He is a US Marine, I am very proud of everything that he has done in the USMC and accomplished. He went to Iraq OIF 2007-2008 and was there for a full year. We only got to see each other for a 2 week R&R. I swear that was one of the toughest things that I have ever done.I cant wait to see what the next 5 years have to come! We are both really excited to see where our journey is taking us!

(Izabella[1] on left & Kadience[4] on right)
These two little sweet peas are our daughters Kadience & Izabella. They are our pride & joy. Kadience is a Princess & a half. She loves to dress up and put makeup on. She would rather wear a dress or a skirt & some "fancy" heels as she says than jeans any day! She is so ready to go to school she will get to go to full day preschool next year (2010/2011 school year) She couldn't go this year because the school we are in zone for she would have had to be 4 before Sept 1st and her birthday isn't until October So she was definitely bummed but is so excited to go this year! Izabella is my little "mini me" she looks identical to me growing up & is very interested in being the center of attention. She loves to dance, play peekaboo & go "bye bye". She is her own little character very different from her sister, but you can tell she looks up to Kadience so much. She likes to put on "fancy" shoes and spin in circles in Princess dresses right beside her big sister!

Anyways well that is it for right now, I hope that you enjoyed reading my miniature novel & hopefully you will get some inspiration from the things I am going to be creating throughout the coming year!
